Select one controversial issue (e.g., abortion, teen pregnancy, Welfare reform, environmental justice, etc.) and do a little research to learn more about the topic. Always start with the text and then go to the Internet and search academic sources, in other words NOT Wikipedia or similar sites. Internet sources from non-profit, bi-partisan, government agencies are fine. Of course, sources from peer-reviewed academic journals are always fine.

Take a side in the controversy, and then write a paper (at least 850 words in length) supporting your selected side.
