Values and Accountability

First, follow the link and watch the TED Talk featuring Yves Morieux, a French management consultant. Pay particular attention to his thoughts near the end of his presentation. https://www.ted.com/talks/yves_morieux_how_too_many_rules_at_work_keep_you_from_getting_things_done#t974358 After watching the talk, please read the attached monograph written by former police chief Tom Koby discussing police accountability and the idea of a Value Based Behavior System. With those as background, please discuss your reactions to what Chief Koby did and advocates. Though coming from very different worlds (both professionally and geographically), how do Mr. Morieux’s ideas relate to Chief Koby’s? What problems might exist in adopting an approach like this for policing? Can we overcome the obstacles and make Koby’s approach work in a real-life setting? Should we?
