Write a thesis-driven argument about any text(s) included among our assigned readings (as per the syllabus),
drawing upon (and quoting) specific textual evidence to make your case. (See the handout “Some Tips for
Writing Essays,” available under the files tab, for suggestions about your argument.) You can focus on any
aspects of the text(s) that you find interesting or confusing. It might be an especially good idea to write about
texts for which I don’t offer you reading notes. You should not focus on whether or not you like the text(s) you
are discussing.
Argumentative Responses should be between 300 and 500 words. Please be sure to double-space your work.
Your responses must employ MLA style and include a works cited list. You can submit your responses at any
time before the due date, but you are strongly discouraged from submitting multiple papers at the same time,
and students may only write one response per te
