The Reconstruction Era

A major part of Reconstruction was healing over the Civil War, which included how to remember both the causes of the war and how do we remember the conflict. That is an issue we have yet to reconcile. If you were in charge in 1870, how would go about healing the nation? Secondly, in 2019, how should we Americans remember the war? Should we keep Confederate statues and flags in town squares? Why or why not? Using the reading materials, formulate a substantial first post of at least three paragraphs.
