In this module, conceive of a simple group project related to your interests that can incorporate a piece of
technology that learned about either from our units on 21st Century Technology or Assistive/Accessible
Technology. You want to review the following resources and use the suggestions to design an analytical rubric
for your a group activity (ie. your students do need to be collaborating and interacting as part of the activity).
Grading Rubric Design – Brown University
Designing Rubric – The Teaching Channel
Designing Scoring Rubrics for your Classroom – Craig A. Mertler
Part 1:
In a document, you’ll be including the following information:
The written instructions that your students will be provided and expected to read to complete the project (it is at
your discretion to organize and convey this information in a grade-level appropriate manner):
What is the group developing/doing?
What are the minimum requirements?
What resources will the students be provided with?
What does the final deliverable include/need to involve?
A detailed analytical rubric to assess the learners in this activity.
Be sure your rubric includes at least 5 criterion and 5 levels of achievement.
At least one of the criteria must address how you will assess the technology component.
At least one of the criteria must address how you will assess the group work.
Develop descriptions of each criterion and level of achievement in parallel structure.
The rubric should be designed/organized within a simple table.
Part 2:
Develop a reflective piece about your plan for assessing the group activity:
What learning outcome were you trying to assess with this activity?
What details do you feel are necessary in effective instructions for learners? How is this reflected in your
activity specifically?
