The Effects of COVID-19 among the Elderly Population

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an enormous effect on the daily lives of most individuals in the first half of 2020. Widespread lockdown and preventative measures have isolated individuals, affected the world economy, and limited physical and mental healthcare access. While these measures may have been necessary to minimize the spread of the virus, the adverse physical, psychological, and social effects are evident. However, the elderly population, which has been worst affected by both the virus and the lockdown measures, has seen the most negligible benefits.
Question: As a future nurse, what do you see as your responsibility to ensure that this group is supported and protected while living in the community, and should this be everyone's business or if they have a family should it be?
