Racism in Football (Soccer)

      Please write about the history and current state of affairs of racism in football (soccer). Specifically, please touch on the racial/ethnic abuse from fans and the responsibilities of FIFA/UEFA in policing said abuse. This is if course a question that other sports and leagues have dealt with--some better than others--though probably not as much as football. Is there a particular episode of this you can think of? Has FIFA ever put out any kind of statement about this?
