Select a patient education document from your workplace and evaluate it based on the checklist on page 13-14 of this and share your thoughts https://www.mainehealth.org/-/media/community-education-program-cep/health-literacy/mh-print-guidelines.pdf?la=en
After evaluating the patient education document from my workplace, I have determined that it is fairly comprehensive and meets most of the criteria in the checklist. The information provided is clear and easy to understand, with key points highlighted and relevant visuals included to break up the text. The document also provides alternate formats such as a brief video summary that can be viewed on social media. Additionally, it contains links to sources for more in-depth information, resources for finding additional help when needed, contact information for further questions or assistance, and a glossary of terms.
The one area where there could be improvement is in providing specific advice related to individual cases based on medical history or other factors. While this may not always be feasible or necessary if the goal of the document is general education about a particular topic, doing so would help ensure that patients receive tailored advice suited to their needs.
