Plato- allegory of the cave

Plato, or more precisely his character Socrates, presents the allegory of the cave as "an image of our nature in its education and want of education." Is the story an illuminating way to think about what it is to lack education and what it is to be educated? What does it suggest about us? Do you agree? Further, come up with a different "image of our nature" (that is, a different extended metaphor or story, like Plato's). To what would you liken people in "want of education"? Explain your choice.
