Part I: The Method.
Clearly summarize your method by identifying the steps you would use to approach your specific sub-problem, including where you would apply specific LOs.
Include your systematic method as a flowchart, outline, or list of bulleted points (this should not be a narrative, and should not include any additional content
not included in the narrative section below). (Note: Refer to Activity 1 in Session 10 for an example of how to outline your strategy/process).
Part II: Application.
Apply your systematic method by characterizing and proposing solutions for one of the topics listed. Research and learn about the problem and then apply
the Problem Solving LOs to propose solutions. This narrative portion of your assignment should include three sections (100-300 words):
1. An introduction to the issue, including a clear statement of your sub-problem
Overfishing is an increasingly common global problem that has been putting strain on marine life in the Arabian Gulf for years now. Overfishing is the practice of fishing to such an extent that species populations become depleted, threatening local ecosystems and economies. As overfishing continues in the Arabian Gulf, it poses a serious threat to fish stocks and marine life in this region as well as an ongoing threat to food security and other important resources provided by these water bodies.
2. Application of LOs
In order to effectively address this problem I will use multiple Problem Solving approaches:
• I will define the problem by detailing current impacts and potential consequences of overfishing (LO3)
• I will identify possible solutions through research into current methods used worldwide, with consideration for regional context (LO4)
• I will evaluate different solutions based on their effectiveness and practicality, taking into account various stakeholders’ interests (LO5).
• Finally I will develop actionable plans towards implementation, with considerations on accessibility/feasibility (LO6).
3. A conclusion summarizing your findings & proposed plan of action
Through my systematic approach to solving this issue, I have identified several effective strategies for addressing overfishing in the Arabian Gulf. These include introducing stricter regulations for fishing practices; expanding educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness about sustainable fishing practices; investing in technological advances that help authorities better monitor illegal or unsustainable fishing activities; encouraging more responsible consumption habits among consumers; incentivising sustainable fisheries through subsidies or tax breaks; and collaborating with international partners or organisations working towards similar goals within their own regions. Implementing any combination of these strategies would go a long way towards reducing overfishing levels within this region while also helping protect marine habitats from further decline and degradation associated with irresponsible fishing activities
