For this assignment, each student will identify a social problem, research the social problem, and write an analysis paper (4-5 pages) on the problem (Cover page and reference page not included). The analysis should be written as a research paper format, APA style, and include at least (3) scholarly/peer-reviewed journal references and address the following: Identify the social problem, and describe this social problem on a community, state, and national level. How is it defined? Describe the impact of this social problem in various settings. Choose ONE of these theories and describe how it explains this social problem: Ecological Systems Theory, Person in Environment Theory, Social Change, Social Learning Theory What are the major social values associated to the problem? What value conflicts exist? What individuals or groups have played a major role in defining and or influencing how the problem is defined? What populations are affected by the social problem? Provide a description (i.e., size, defining characteristics) of the populations identified and how they are impacted by the problem. Within the five years, what has been society’s responses (legislation passed or amended) to deal with the social problem. What has been the intended or unintended consequences (positive or negative) of the policies in an attempt to resolve, alleviate, and/or prevent the social problem.
