Refer to research paper, “obesity and overweight issues could undermine Malaysia’s competitiveness”.
• From your point of view, is being obese or overweight could undermine an individual’s competitiveness at the workplace?
• If you are one of the top managements in an organisation, will you take any initiative
to enhance the fitness level of all your employees?
From my point of view, yes, being obese or overweight can undermine an individual’s competitiveness at the workplace. Obesity and/or being overweight can lead to health issues that may affect physical ability and energy levels, which in turn can make it difficult for an individual to be competitive on the job. Additionally, obesity and/or being overweight can also lead to mental health issues such as depression that could cause a decline in productivity levels.
If I were one of the top managements in an organisation, I would take initiatives to enhance the fitness level of all my employees. This could include offering discounts on gym memberships or organising corporate wellness programmes along with providing educational resources about maintaining healthy lifestyle habits like exercising regularly and eating nutritious foods. These initiatives will help motivate employees to stay fit while reducing their chances of developing health-related conditions that may impact their performance at work.
