Nuclear energy

When nuclear came about it was touted as being "green" which is a much larger driver now than it was then. But as many of us remember or have studied/read about, nuclear energy has the potential for a large downside.
What do you think? Does the risk warrant the reward? Do the controls for the risk matter? Is the troubled
