Multicultural America

Consider your personal definition of American culture and explore how literature from
multicultural writers fits, expands, or even contradicts the norms of the larger culture.
Instructions:
Write a paper in which you define/discuss what you consider American culture. Using
one or more of the stories from this unit, analyze how the culture(s) represented there
relate to or complicate your definition of American culture as a whole. In addition to the
primary sources, you might want to include additional research in defining American
culture. Feel free to use critical sources relating culture directly to the literature.
