Variables:
ID: participant ID
Bday: age
Gender: 0-1; 0 = Male; 1 = Female;
Ethnicity: 0 = white; 3 = black; 4 = Asian/PI; 6 = Latinx
NCAA: 0-1; 0 = Not in NCAA sports; 1 = Athlete in NCAA sport;
Quantity: # of MJ use episodes @ the start of college
Quantity_Post: # of MJ use episodes a month after MJ education class aimed to reduce MJ use;
BIS: Behavioral Inhibition Scale; higher à high inhibition
SS8: Sensation Seeking Scale; higher à high sensation seeking
QFI: Alcohol Abuse Measure; higherà high alcohol use
HED_episodes: number of binge drinking episodes
Create appropriate frequency tables for each nominal variable in the dataset.
Create an appropriate chart or graph for the Alcohol Abuse Measure and Binge Drinking Episodes.
Report the mean, standard deviation, min/max for each Interval/Ratio variable in the dataset (you can copy/paste the tables from the output).
You want to identify whether NCAA athletes engage in more binge drinking episodes than non-NCAA athletes. Run the appropriate t-test (single sample t-test, independent samples t-test, repeated samples t-test) and identify whether you would reject or accept the null (α = 0.05). Make sure to use a one-tailed OR two-tailed test (choose which one based on the specific research question provided). Copy/paste the table you used to draw this conclusion.
Calculate the effect size (either in JASP or by hand). Write these results up in APA format. Also include mean and standard deviation # of binge drinking episodes for NCAA athletes and non-NCAA athletes (while this is not a requirement for APA format, it is sometimes nice to have).
Now you want to know whether frequency of marijuana use decreased from the start of college as a result of the marijuana education class for all incoming students. Run the appropriate t-test (single sample t-test, independent samples t-test, repeated samples t-test) and identify whether you would reject or accept the null (α=0.01).
Calculate the effect-size by hand or in JASP (with 95% Confidence Intervals) and then write these results up in APA format.
