You are required to write a formal report which critically evaluates the approach of
one organisation to managing equality and diversity. To do this, you will need to:
- Conduct an equality and diversity audit of your chosen organization
- Use your equality and diversity audit to analyse and critically evaluate the
approach taken by that organization to managing equality and diversity
Your report will be marked according to the assessment criteria on page 5 and the
postgraduate grade descriptors (you can find these in the module guide).
Key requirements
• Your report must be a maximum of 4,000 words excluding the reference list,
any appendices and your personal reflection. Please put your word length on
the front sheet. If the report is over 4000 words then it will not be marked.
• Your report must be a Word document. If you have not already done so, you
can download Word and other software free of charge through your University
account
• Your report will be marked anonymously in accordance with University policy
and best practice. It must therefore be submitted anonymously: that is, it
must not have your name or student number on it.
• The deadline for submitting your report is 3pm on Monday 11 January 2021.
Submission is via the electronic submission point on the DLE. You will receive
your marks and feedback by 8 February.

Formative feedback
You are encouraged to submit a short piece of individual work for formative feedback.
The deadline for formative submission is 3pm, Thursday 26 November and your work
should be uploaded to the formative submission point on the DLE. You can submit
your formative work at any time up until the deadline.
Written feedback will be uploaded as quickly as possible after you submit your work,
and by Friday 4 December at the latest. You will have the opportunity to discuss your
feedback – and any other concerns – by appointment during the class times on 9 and
16 December.
Formative assessment does not count towards your final module mark. It is however
designed to support your understanding of the requirements of the module, assist your
preparation for the summative (final) assignment and to give an opportunity for you to
receive some early feedback and feedforward. Experience indicates that students who
take advantage of formative opportunities tend to achieve better grades than those
who do not.
To receive formative feedback, you should produce a detailed plan for your report.
Your plan should:
• Be no longer than 1,000 words, excluding reference list
• Give the name of your chosen organisation and explain briefly why you chose
it
