      Essential Question: What are the variables underlying man's actions? Instructional Objective: Students will analyze the terms "Hysteria" and "Mass Hysteria," in order to research a historical case of widespread hysteria, uncovering its origin and impact. AIM: Are we driven by specific impulses? If so, what are they? TASK STEP I: Carefully read the definitions of "hysteria" and "mass hysteria," by clicking on the MATERIALS posted in "The Crucible Unit." STEP II: Then click on "LIST OF MASS HYTERIA IN HISTORY" also located in "The Crucible" unit in Google Classroom. Familiarize yourself with the cases of "mass hysteria" recorded. STEP III: Choose one example of "mass hysteria" from THE LIST OF MASS HYSTERIA IN HISTORY" OR YOU MAY CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON AND THEREFORE CONDUCT RESEARCH ON ANOTHER CASE NOT REFERENCED ON THE LIST. What were the underlying variables setting the stage for the emergence of mass hysteria? In other words, what were the circumstances leading to the episode of "mass hysteria?" Who was involved? Who was directly impacted? Where did the occurrence take place? In hindsight, meaning after the occurence, what was discovered as the true motives igniting the hysteria?
