- In Chapter 5, Pope Francis makes a number of practical recommendations for mitigating the environmental
crisis. Drawing on evidence from the text, present in detail three different “lines of action or approach” that the
Pope recommends. Which of the Pope’s recommendations do you think is best, and why? Discuss at least one
additional recommendation by the Pope for mitigating the environmental crisis that you find dubious, and
explain why you see it that way. - In Chapter 6, the Pope describes what he calls an "ecological spirituality," and illustrates how such
spirituality is "grounded in the convictions of [the Roman Catholic] faith" (216). Drawing on evidence from the
text, present three different attitudes, beliefs or practices that the Pope presents as characteristic of "ecological
spirituality." Describe in detail each respective attitude, belief, or practice, and discuss how the Pope connects
it to Catholic thinkers and traditions. Do you agree with the Pope that an "ecological spirituality" can help
mitigate the environmental crisis? Why / why not?
