Background: The 9/11 Commission identified barriers in intelligence and information sharing that contributed to a degrading of national security. New legislation was enacted by Congress and the executive branch that created new policies and regulations designed to enhance information sharing across the government and the Intelligence Community. It also resulted in the creation of DHS to remove the barriers between intelligence and law enforcement and enable efficient, effective coordination against threats to the nation. Question: Intelligence support of homeland security is a primary mission of the entire IC. Assess the role that intelligence plays in homeland security and whether it has been effective in dealing with threats, and the sharing intelligence and information across the government and with homeland security partners.
