Describe in 300 words a hypothesis test study that would help your work or conclusions in some way. Describe what variable would be tested and what would be your guess of the value of that variable. Then include how the result, if the null were rejected or not, might change your conclusions or actions in some way.
This hypothesis test study would examine the impact of employee engagement on organizational performance. Specifically, I will be testing whether there is a statistically significant difference between the number of hours that employees are engaged and their job satisfaction level. The null hypothesis for this study is that there is no difference between employee engagement hours and job satisfaction levels. If the null hypothesis were rejected, then it could indicate that increased employee engagement leads to improved job satisfaction.
I predict that increasing employee engagement through an additional hour or two per week will lead to a significant improvement in job satisfaction among workers. To test this hypothesis, I plan to survey 20 randomly selected employees from each department within my organization who have been employed for at least 6 months with our company. The questions in the survey should focus on recording how many hours respondents were engaged within their work duties over a period of one month as well as measuring their overall job satisfaction during this same time frame using a 5-point scale (1=Not Satisfied; 5=Very Satisfied).
If the results show that the average score for surveyed employees who had more than 8 hours of weekly engagement was significantly higher than those with fewer than 8 hours, then we can reject the null hypothesis and conclude that increasing employee engagement has positive effects on team member’s perceived levels of job satisfaction. This result could help inform future decisions made by management such as implementing policies aimed at promoting and encouraging greater employee engagement by providing relevant training resources or flexible working arrangements which may further increase team morale and improve productivity throughout our organization.
