My senior thesis focuses on how the reaction by the media following the Columbine high school shooting has
caused many reaction between , scholars, politicians, and the public on what is causing, and how to properly
address this issue. Facts and speculations by news media between violence, gaming, and shootings has
created discrepancies (tone, description, word-choice) between the media, health/gov. institutions, and rightful
public response/opinion. The shift in public opinion in each source suggests a link to other forms of online
media that can contribute to violent tendencies. The reaction and emphasis of certain information about the
issue caused a sense of ambiguity or unrest.
