For this assignment, you are expected to brainstorm an original research topic (on
Hip Hop culture – meaning, any of the four pillars of the culture: rapping, deejaying, breaking or graffiti writing) of your choosing. Please ensure that this is a topic is of
interest to you and that you are willing to do extensive research on (and where you
determine there are extensive resources available to support your research efforts). The goal of a research proposal is to present and justify the need to study a research
subject and to present the practical ways in which the proposed study will be
conducted. Research proposals must provide a rationale for the study (why do you
want to study this topic, and why do you think research on the subject is necessary?), a detailed methodology for conducting the research (what sources will you use and
how will they help you arrive at the answers you are seeking?), and a statement on
anticipated outcomes and/or benefits derived from the study’s completion.
