Question: Financial assets are nothing more than a shuffling of papers and have no real impact on the economy. If the stock market, bond market and mortgage market were to vanish, the economy would continue on as if nothing had ever happened. Do you agree with this? Give some insight into what you think would be a major consequence of having no market for financial assets.
