Colonial Latin America (Peru)

The paper question focuses on the course theme of Colonial Latin America. You are to select a region within the Spanish or Portuguese empire/colonial area of the Americas to answer the following questions. Please remember you are only to use the materials we read for class and the materials you are using for your Historical Lab project. A. In the first part of your paper, you need to describe the main characteristics of the colonial region you have selected: administrative, economic, and social —In this last one, you need to discuss issues of racial and ethnic. B. In your second part, you need to address what led and shaped the region's independence movements. Consider the following questions: What led to the wars of Independence? Who is leading these moments? What are the political ideas driving the movement to Independence? What were the outcomes of the War of Independence?
