The Ethics of Teaching (Strike & Soltis, 2009/2015) text includes the NEA Code of Ethics as a preliminary section to the book. This code was adopted in 1975. Throughout this course you have treated not only established and time-tested values and laws, but applied values to new challenges in education and considered changes in society that may be affecting societal and individual values. Such developments and new challenges, even if minor, suggest that some updates could be made to this Code of Ethics. Write an addendum to the NEA Code of Ethics of the Education Profession, listing principles which would address some of the changing values and challenges. You may want to consider especially the social character of ethics and the challenges of pluralism. You may propose the deletion of parts of the existing code, but you need not.
In addition to an addendum to the actual Code, write an explanation for the addendum. Think over the ethical methods and values, as well as the laws and case studies addressed these five weeks. How have your studies influenced the changes you made to the Code, and why?
