Calculating shear stress in the slab

Question 1
A concrete slab is required to span continuously over 5 spans of 6.5m each.It is required to carry the following loads (IN ADDITION to self weight):
Permanent Load Imposed Load
1.0 kN/m2 (plus self weight) 5.0 kN/m2
a. Propose a slab thickness and hence calculate the ultimate load on the slab (3 marks) b. Calculate the maximum bending moments on the slab, using tabulated coefficients.
(3 marks) c. Design the required (Ultimate limit state bending) reinforcement in EVERY span and at EVERY support.
(9 marks) d. Check whether the slab is satisfactory with regard to deflection and propose a solution if the slab fails. (7 marks) e. Calculate the maximum shear stress in the slab (using tabulated coefficients) and check whether the slab is satisfactory with regard to this stress. (3 marks) Total Marks 25
