Bacteria

There are bacteria that live in frigid temperatures in the Arctic Ocean. On the other hand, there are bacteria that live in the hot springs of the Yellow Stone National Park at temperatures reaching the boiling point of water. How can those bacteria survive at such extreme temperatures? Why there aren’t more complex organisms in those places?
