While it is impossible in the the limited time we have to fully explore this complex subject with far reaching consequences it is vital you have some knowledge of this set of technological advances. How will they affect the economy and the corporate landscape?

Please see the attached McKinsey article. As teams submit a 5-10 page impact essay in the following format. The best approach is to use the questions as headers and provide your insights:

What are the major technologies e.g. robots, artificial intelligence based services and blockchain? Why do they have potential to disrupt?
Which industries are the most vulnerable? Why?
Which major companies are threatened? Why?
What are the opportunities and threats?
What actions should companies take and how urgent are the issues?
Pick at least 1 company and actions it may be taking in terms of attacking existing companies and outline its success or potential failure. Examples are Tesla, Airbnb, Uber, Amazon, Apple, Netflix
Also create an informative 5-7 slide overview. We may ask some teams to present depending on time available – see related assignment to post.

Remember the concept here is to familiarize you with a critical set of developments – not to write a thesis. That would not be realistic.
