For this final course discussion post, take a moment to review and reflect on the five course outcomes for Advanced Computer Architecture: Evaluate the hardware components of modern computing environments and their individual functions. Review the basic security implications of modern computing environments. Review foundational cybersecurity concepts and the federal, state and local cyber defense partners/structures. Research the applicable laws and policies related to cyber defense and describe the major components of each pertaining to the storage and transmission of data. Examine responsibilities related to the handling of data as it pertains to legal, ethical and/or agency auditing issues, and how the type of dispute affects the evidence used to resolve it. Please respond to the following in a post of at least 200 words: Identify the three to five core lessons you learned from taking this course. Describe how you plan to integrate these core lessons into your daily life. Determine the methods you will use to retain and revisit this information. +300 words
Taking Advanced Computer Architecture was a great experience for me and I learned a lot. To narrow down the core lessons I learned, there are three that stand out the most to me: understanding security implications of modern computing environments, researching laws and policies related to cyber defense, and examining responsibility when handling data.
I plan to integrate these core lessons into my daily life by being more aware of the different types of threats that may come from using technology in our day-to-day lives. On top of that, I will also be more diligent in research federal laws and policies related to cyber defense before engaging in any activities online or through other digital means. Finally, I will always strive to take extra caution with my actions when handling personal data; this includes ensuring I am accurately documenting information regarding any disputes as well as adhering to ethical/legal guidelines when dealing with sensitive information.
To retain this knowledge, one way is by revisiting it through continued learning opportunities such as seminars or workshops on cybersecurity topics. Additionally, reading articles related to technological advancements can help broaden my understanding on the subject matter so that it remains fresh in my mind at all times. Lastly, if applicable within my profession or field of study it would be beneficial for me to take part in certifications which offer further insights into computer architecture and cybersecurity principles.
In conclusion, taking Advanced Computer Architecture has provided me with valuable insight into how important cybersecurity is especially given today’s heavily digitized world where so much relies upon secure systems functioning properly without interruption from malicious attackers or hackers looking for weaknesses they can exploit for their own gain. Moving forward I plan on integrating these lessons by always remaining vigilant about potential threats while simultaneously staying up-to-date on legal requirements associated with data storage/transmission along with moral/ethical responsibilities associated with handling personal data appropriately at all times regardless of context/situation . Furthermore continuing education regarding computer architecture combined with certification courses will help keep myself up-to-speed on new developments pertaining to security protocols thus allowing me remain proactive rather than reactive should an issue arise requiring analysis followed by swift resolution
