I feel that I have fulfilled my goals in taking this class by learning new concepts and developing a better understanding of the critical thinking process. Through studying theories, questioning assumptions, and engaging in meaningful conversations about topics related to communication, I was able to develop clearer insights on how to think more critically. My contributions to others in this class were mainly through discussions where I was able to offer my perspectives on various topics and also listen carefully to other people’s opinions. In return, I learned from others about their experiences with different issues related to communication and got valuable feedback which helped me gain a more holistic understanding of the subject matter.
Reflecting on my writings and discussions throughout this course has made me realize that I am capable of coming up with creative solutions for difficult situations by thoroughly examining all angles before drawing conclusions. It also made me aware of the importance of being open-minded when engaging in conversations or debates around sensitive topics such as race or gender equality where personal biases can easily cloud one’s judgment if not managed properly. Additionally, it has reminded me how important it is for us, especially during moments of tension or disagreement within any group setting,to still be respectful towards each other’s opinions even if we don’t agree with them completely. All these realizations were indeed surprising yet fulfilling discoveries since they highlighted qualities within myself which could be further nurtured so that I could become a better communicator overall.
