One concept which has been particularly useful for me is the “Three Stages of Critical Thinking” model developed by Browne and Keeley (2007). This model outlines three stages: exploration (where you explore an issue or topic), analysis (where you evaluate evidence) and synthesis (where you come up with your own conclusions). By using this model as a guide, I have been able to become better at critically analyzing information before making decisions or judgments. Furthermore, it has served as a helpful reminder when confronted with complex problems that require deeper thought processes.
Reflecting on my writings and discussions throughout this course has made me realize that I am capable of coming up with creative solutions for difficult situations by thoroughly examining all angles before drawing conclusions. It also made me aware of the importance of being open-minded when engaging in conversations or debates around sensitive topics such as race or gender equality where personal biases can easily cloud one's judgment if not managed properly. Additionally, it has reminded me how important it is for us, especially during moments of tension or disagreement within any group setting,to still be respectful towards each other's opinions even if we don't agree with them completely. All these realizations were indeed surprising yet fulfilling discoveries since they highlighted qualities within myself which could be further nurtured so that I could become a better communicator overall.
