My vision is to be a hero maker. As the saying goes, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” (Anonymous). Heroes have always been a part of society and often stand out from their peers in terms of their perceived abilities and achievements. They are seen as exemplars that others look up to and aspire towards. However, there are many more people who work behind the scenes in order for heroes to reach those heights; these people are often referred to as “hero makers” (Clift & Martin-Kniep, 2001).

Hero makers come in all shapes and sizes; they may not necessarily need any formal qualifications or special skills but possess a combination of qualities such as knowledge, courage, empathy and resilience that help create an atmosphere for success (Cable & Eggebeen & Buehler et al., 2009). They understand what it takes for an individual or organisation to succeed; they inspire those around them through their actions rather than words and invest time in helping others rise above challenging situations by providing support both emotionally and practically. In essence they have an unselfish dedication towards enabling individuals/teams/organisations achieve beyond themselves – true success can only be achieved when we take into account collective effort (Robbins & Judge, 2011).

The role of hero maker is one which I am passionate about fulfiling. My dream is make a meaningful contribution within organisations by creating environments where creativity flourishes – a place wherein everyone has equal opportunity regardless of background or rank – so that talented individuals can pursue their ambitions without fear or prejudice. It is my belief that this will enable wider organisational objectives whilst providing rewards on both personal levels – employees feeling valued with increased job satisfaction – as well as those on commercial standing – increased output due improved staff morale amongst other things.
It’s my hope that my efforts will positively contribute towards making organisations more successful – thus encouraging even greater number of aspiring heroes!
