Write a short dialog between Rae and the narrator of “The Yellow Wall-Paper.” Where are they? What do they
talk about? What do they think of each other? What kind of tone does the conversation take?
The conversation should be written in a more or less traditional short story form, with dialog woven together
with narration. Dialog would still be attributed, changes of speaker marked by starting a new paragraph (unless
you have some thematic reason not to follow that traditional convention). Ernest Hemingway’s “Hills Like White
Elephants” is a great example of a story driven almost entirely by dialog. It’s writtennearly in dramatic form with
changes in speaker marked by the start of a new paragraph, but largely uninterrupted by narration or
attributions.
You should also include a short paragraph explaining some of the choices that you made and what led you to
make those choices. What, in other words, specific details from the stories led you to believe that the
interaction would take the course that you plotted for it?
