Company and Website: Marcus by Goldman Sachs
Phase 1:
Functionality
• On the home page, Marcus has its two services it provides with short detail for both (personal loans and online savings account). The website also provides a log in button at the right top corner next to the tab that lists the different options Marcus provides.
• Scrolling down shows updated news that’s happening with the company and if you scroll down more it shows Marcus’s about, loan types, savings types, legal, and their customer service contacts.
• On the log in page you can enter your username and password, and if you’re signing in through an unknown device, Marcus asks for verification through text message where it’ll send a code to enter after entering your username and password.
• Once logging in the site directs you to your dashboard where you’ll instantly see your total current balance, the last four of your savings account number, and the 2.15% yield percentage you receive. There’s also a transfer button to transfer funds to and from another account. There’s also a drop-down tab next to transfer where you can click on statements, external accounts linked to your account, and beneficiaries.
• On the top left corner, you’ll see My account that you can click on and see the drop down options of profile, open an account, beneficiaries, external accounts, and log out.
• At the top of the page you’ll see accounts, statements, resources, and FAQs. The resources option is very useful as Marcus offers tips on saving money as well as keeping track of your credit.
The biggest limit I see from Marcus by Goldman Sachs is there’s no app. In this world of optimization there’s so many great functions from this website that could be integrated within the app and is more user friendly. Also, if Marcus truly wants to assist their customers in saving money, Marcus could have the app not only be a savings and loans account but could also be a money management app at the same time. Setting a budget, incorporating your expenses, and integrating your checking from another bank, your Marcus savings, loans, and credit cards to truly help you budget from your income to spending ratio.
