Pick a category of victims who have historically been marginalized and/or underserved (this includes any population of victims that have one or more barrier to seeking help for social issues relating to victimization). Groups to consider include: the LGBTQ+ community, male survivors, the elderly, victims with disabilities, immigrant survivors and those with limited English proficiency, Native American and Indigenous victims, survivors in rural or economically distressed areas, those living with addiction, victims with criminal histories, etc. discuss the victimization rates, potential barriers to service, services currently available, and ideas for what could be done to help fix this issue. Use the following questions to help guide your research and writing: Discuss the population’s victimization rates. Do you believe the rates are actually higher or lower than reported? Why? Discuss the barriers to service for your population. What complications may arise when they seek help? Why do these complications exist? What can be done to help this population receive services? In other words, what suggestions would you give to help remove the barriers and complications that currently exist?
