After having read the materials, watched the videos, and completed assignments 1-3, think of a theme. What
do you “see” in the time period examined? (These first chapters) What is the trend? What are you intrigued by
in the history examined so far? Pick a theme and create an introductory powerpoint slide on what your theme
is- is it media, technology, presidencies, warfare, fashion, music, science, etc. The next few slides should
examine how that theme is seen in American history 1877-1914- use pictures and your opinion as well as the
historical evidence. Provide the historical data to back up your theme “thesis.”
To receive full credit you need a minimum of 7 slides and answer the following although you may have more:
1. Your theme: what it is, why it is important to history?
2. Your pictorial and editorial examples of how your theme is present in events you choose from 1877-1914.
3. Cite your sources in parenthetical form (Author, year, pg) for each photo and typed editorial examples.
